  • 1981- 1995: flight attendant and purser with Lufthansa German Airlines on international routes
  • 1987 - 1994: diploma in sociology, economics and psychology. Studies at the Johann-Wolfang-Goethe University in Frankfurt/M. and at the Justus-Liebig University in Giessen
  • 1995-1997: co-operation in the research project “The Communicative Construction of Moral (directed by Prof. Dr. J. Bergmann, University of Giessen, now Bielefeld, and Prof. Dr. T. Luckmann, University Constance) sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Council) see publications
  • Since 1995: associate lecturer at the department of social and cultural science of the Justus-Liebig University of Giessen. Selected subjects: intercultural learning, gender relationships, communication analysis
  • 1996 - 2000: scholarship and coworker at the Institute for Social Research Frankfurt/Main. Subject of my PhD thesis: The social construction of group identities in intercultural learning
