Working with organizations and groups, I like to draw from my studies in social science and psychology using a systemic approach, which originates in communication studies. Systemic inquiry is a way of exploring the complex patterns and underlying rules of problems. Consulting is directed at disrupting these underlying patterns, thereby initiating a process of change. The method aims to reorganize a problem-oriented self-organization. This means that systemic organization development does not implement external standard solutions. It rather supports the organization in finding its own problem- solving competence. This is the reason why I pay considerable attention to a strong commitment on part of the involved members of an organization as well as on methodical stringency.
